Gladys B. Kessinger of Sissonville passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009. She was at home with her family. She retired from One Valley Bank after 43 years service and attended Pocatalico Community Church.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Owens P and Addie Siders Hackney; and her loving husband of 46 years, Russell Kessinger.
She is survived by her children, Diana Kessinger Fisher and husband, Linden Fisher II, and Michael Kessinger and wife, Tammy Welch; her grandchildren, Karli Kessinger, David Chestnut, and Rachel Daw; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and the Rev. Buddy Mairs; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Brenda Hackney; and sister-in-law Amenda Steman.
The funeral will be noon Saturday, Aug. 15, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Mairs. Burial will follow in John Beane Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, also at Long & Fisher Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may to be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd, W., Charleston, WV 25312. Hospice and their workers were wonderful to Gladys and her family during this time of need and the family thanks them.
