Gerta Drake, 87, of Big Chimney, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

Gerta graduated from Elkview High School and Morris Harvey College.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Charles J. Drake. She is survived by son, David (Arbutus) of Big Chimney; daughters, Drema (Jim) Bonar of Ripley and Donna (Jimmy) Miller of Pinch; one granddaughter, Dr. Kimberly (Mike) Becher of Clendenin; and one grandson, Jacob Bonar of Ripley; also one great-grandson Ewan Becher of Clendenin. ln addition, she is survived by one sister and one brother.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville. Services will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Keffer conducting the funeral.
