Freddy L. Mitchell, 58, of Sissonville, suddenly left behind his loved ones and departed his earthly home on Thursday, August 9, 2007. His faith and strong values shone through in his efforts of helping others.
He was a Certified Dental Technician and was owner and operator of Mitchell Dental Laboratory for over 30 years. He was a member of the Appalachian Motor Club, Nitro Moose Lodge, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He enjoyed many years serving as a coach and official of youth basketball. His greatest love was spending time with his family, but he also enjoyed his weekly golf games with family, riding his Harley, and his newfound hobby of flying. "Baby, you now have your wings."
Preceding him in death were his parents, Basil Mitchell and Julie Gundy Mitchell; and a brother, Basil "Buddy" Mitchell. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 40 years, Velma; son, Leonard L. Mitchell (fianc Susan Fleming); daughters Kimberly B. Pittman (Greg) and April D. Somerville (Sam); 6 grandchildren, whom he adored: Tessa Lee Mitchell; Chaz, Kayla, and Seth Pittman; and Ashley and Brandon Somerville; brothers, Kenneth Mitchell, David Anderson (Phyllis); and George Mitchell (Kathy); sisters, Kathleen Bailes, Betty Moore (Eddie), Helen Smith (Jerry), Bonnie Johnson, and Charlotte Moore (Arthur); brothers- and sisters-in law, whom he loved as his own family: Ron Haynes (Becky); Art Haynes (Berma); Thornton Haynes; Paula Lynch (Gary); Debra Lucas (Eddie); and Teresa Lovejoy (Jackie); many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, August 13, 2007, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. David Thaxton officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville. Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
