Freda Mae Burdette, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
She was born in Charleston to parents Albert and Elizabeth Simon. Freda was a life long member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Delta Cappa Gamma, Alph Xi Delta, and Women Elks. She contributed to the Ocean Conservancy, and Human Society of the United States. Freda was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and received her Masters degree from Marshall University. She was the youngest principal in Kanawha County at that time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Handley Burdette.
Freda will be deeply missed by her sisters, Loretta Medley and Nida Keller (Michael); niece, Georgiann Hawkins; nephew, Robert Medley; grandniece, Haley Medley; and grandnephew, Jeffery Hunter Hawkins.
Visitation will be held at St. George Orthodox Cathedral from 6 to 8pm on Monday, December 12, 2016.
Funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. George Orthodox Cathedral with Father Christopher officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
