Obituary

Today, September 20, 2012, almost seven years to the day God called our daddy home, God called home his earthly angel, our mommy. The most loving mommy anyone could have. She fought a hard fight, never giving up. She was the daughter to Leonard and Lillian Jones; she was the wife to Ronald Lanham; daughter-in-law to Russell and Belva Lanham; sister to Eugene Jones; and sister-in-law to David Lanham, all of whom preceded her in death. Our mommy worked hard at a lot of jobs; being mommy was her favorite job, never quitting. She worked for 40 years as a title one reading aide, cook, and then head cook, for Jackson County Board of Education. She worked at Rippling Waters campground for several years during the summer; flagged mobile homes for our dad; and worked on the farm every day. Whatever project our dad was doing, Mommy was beside him.
Frances was the proud mommy of her daughter, Judy Falin and husband, Michael; and son, Walter Lanham and wife, Robin. On March 16, 2005, her greatest wish was granted; she was given a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Lanham. She also leaves a brother, Otto Jones of Wichita Falls, Texas. She was an aunt to Debbie Jones Sundin of Ravenswood and to Justin and Cody Balser.
To our second family, the staff at Heartland Nursing Home: I have never met more caring people. The aides, nurses, physical therapy department - everyone. You will never be forgotten for all of the love and car you gave our mom during such a hard time for her. Thank you for talking, listening and caring. We love all of you.
Thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Dr. Mary Coll; thank you for helping Mommy's final days be as pain free as possible.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
"Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
