Evelyn Louise Scherr, 87, of Kenna went to be with the Lord May 31, 2009 in CAMC Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Jackson county. She was a member of Pleasant View Methodist Church where she played the piano and was involved in various church activities. Evelyn enjoyed painting and working with flowers.
Preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, one daughter, and one grandson.
Left to cherish her memory is loving husband of 69 years, Edwin Scherr at home; children and their spouses, Jim and Karen Scherr, and Carolyn and Charles Griffith of Johnstown, PA; sister, Lucille Reed and her husband, Vince, of Madeira Beach, FL; grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Chrissie Scherr, Susan Stevens, and Chet and Jamee Griffith; great-grandchildren, Carah, Sierra, Drew, Todd Jr., Jimmy, Dylan, Emma, Maggie, and Ella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Thursday, June 4 at Pleasant View Methodist Church with Rev. David Peters and Rev. Robert Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Sherr-Koontz cemetery, Fisher Ridge Road, Kenna. An open house with lunch will be served at the Scherr residence immediately following the burial.
A gathering of family and friends will be 6-8pm Wednesday at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.
