King
February 20, 1933 – February 19, 2019
Eugene King, 85, of Sissonville WV, went to be with his Savior on February 19, 2019. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and attended by the caring team at CAMC CPICU.
He was born February 20, 1933 in Nallen, WV to Eugene and Donna Dorsey King.
After graduating from Nuttall High School, Eugene worked in a sawmill for a short period of time. He found the love of his live, Mildred Hanna King, at the Nicholas County Fair. Before he ever met her, he saw her from a distance and told his buddy he would marry her in a minute. After wooing her for a short while, they married, and he joined the Air Force. During his 21 years of service they lived in Canada, Washington DC, Japan and California where he retired. During his years of service he honed his investigative skills in the Office of Special Investigations and Defense Intelligence Service. While enlisted, he earned an Associate degree from El Camino College. Shortly after retiring he earned a Bachelor's degree from Cal State Long Beach. He returned to WV to be with his parents as they aged. He taught shop for one year at Montgomery High School then returned to investigations, eventually leading the Medicaid Fraud Unit for the WV DHHR and earning a Master's degree from Marshall University. He retired for the second time after 16 years with the State. He became a National Park Service volunteer and Master Gardener.
Aside from his family Eugene's greatest love was for God which he celebrated for over 40 years with the members and friends of Pocatalico Community Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his loving wife of 63 years, and his sister, Mary Ann Bretz.
Left to cherish his memory are son Robert King of Charleston, daughter Kathy Moore and husband Adam of Scott Depot, grandchildren Donnie Lewis and wife Stephanie, Ryan Kress, Austin King, James King, Kristi McCormick and husband TJ Andrea Ruby and husband Ben, great-grandchildren, Lugh & Willow Lewis, Alexis & Kamren Ruby, and Abby McCormick.
Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m. on Sunday February 24 at Pocatalico Community Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 25 th at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pocatalico Community Church in Sissonville.
