Elmer L. Baldwin, 88, of Sissonville Drive; beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2015. He lived 88 years with a heart full of love for his family. He is survived by his wife Nora Gandy-Baldwin, his loving wife and caregiver of 69 years; daughters, Joyce Ann Pack (Richard Pack, deceased) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ruth (Raymond) Page of Cross Lanes, Gerry (Gary) Reed of Charleston; granddaughters, Marissa Byrd, Kathy Page, Kelly Burdette, and Tiata Atkins; great granddaughters, Kourtney Byrd, Graycen Burdette, and Ivey Atkins; grandson Jonathyn Reed; and great grandsons, Anthony Pack of Columbia, SC, Jayden Burdette, Dalton Clark, and Cullen Atkins.
Elmer was a life long resident of Charleston and was a heavy duty truck driver all his life until his retirement in 1993 from Union Boiler, where he was know by all fellow truck drivers as "West Virginia Slim". After his retirement he was the owner of Rt. 21 Produce Market. Everyone who wanted fresh produce always came to see "The Produce Man". In his early years, he was an avid deer hunter and spent many hours and tall tales with friends at Carl Saville''s Farm in Hardy county. But of all the titles he was known for, his most cherished was being the father of his precious girls and husband to his wife Nora. He told everyone he met how much he loved us and what a gift we were to him. We all knew that every day of our lives.
Joyce: The first born was always known as the "Princess". One of his license plates read: "Joyce, the apple of my eye". She was still his "Princess" until the end.
Ruth: Precious memoires of my dad are great and a few are sad. He always said, "I questioned why" and I did especially when I had to say goodbye. But one thing I know for sure, there was always love in daddy''s hand.
Gerry: In my very early years my name for you was "Poppy", after 60 years that was what I still called you. You were my protector, my hero and always stood by my side to watch over me. Your parting gift to me was Saturday when I was with you, you could barely talk anymore but you whispered to me "Kiss"; I leaned over to kiss you and you said "Kiss You" then you gave me one last kiss on the cheek and looked up at me with those pretty blue eyes. It was the best gift I could have ever received. I will miss you poppy but I know you will always be watching over me, you are my special angel.
Marissa and Kourtney: Papaw was a proud grandfather to myself and very proud great grandfather to my daughter Kourtney. The sun rose and set in his eyes for us and ours for him. His unconditional love will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever; he will forever be our guardian angel.
Jonathyn: My fondest memoires of Papaw were his stories. He had one for every situation and we traveled thousands of miles without ever leaving the house. I always wondered which state I would end up in and what lesson there was to be learned. Every once and a while we snuck off on a fishing trip, "grandson, If you don''t leave you line in the water you''ll never catch a fish". But it didn''t matter because the time spent with him was worth every second. Pops, you will forever be remembered, loved and respected as a great man and grandfather.
The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Cavender for being and angel and took our calls day and night, my dad loved her and told her every day how pretty she was

A special thank you to dad''s long time friend Sam Jones of Nitro, he was always there for dad in good times and bad.
We would also like to thank mom and dad''s neighbor, Carolyn and Alan Bailes, and Dave and Fern Teel for helping mom and dad, and always watching out for them, there is a special place in heaven for you.
