Edward Dee Nelson 77, of Sandyville, WV, went home to the arms of the Lord surrounded by his loving family at home, March 14, 2017, after a long illness.
He served our country in the United States Navy for six years. Edward was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and loved spending time with his family.
Edward lived a life that was an example for his children and grandchildren of truth, honor, and loyalty. The greatest gift was the great love he had for all of his family. When anyone needed help he was there to help. He spoiled us all.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward Washington Nelson and Nancy Ellen Nelson. Bothers, Howard Nelson and Roy Dale Nelson. Sisters, Louise Nelson and Dorselene Halstead.
Survived by Judy Ann Nelson, his loving wife of 53 years. His Children Edward Dee Nelson Jr. of Cross Lanes, WV, Lisa and Mike Vannoy of Tornado, WV, and Ronnie Lee Nelson of Sandyville,WV. Brothers, Charles Nelson of Williams Mtn, Wv. Larry and Joy Nelson of Williams Mtn, WV. Roger and Chris Nelson of Gordon, WV. Sisters, Beulah and Virgil Myers of Oceana, WV. Janet and Phillip Ball of Kodak, TN; grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Nelson of Cross Lanes, Justin and Jesse Barnett of Sumerco, Abbigail Nelson and Miranda Gillispie of Ashford, Tori Vannoy of Tornado, and Bryan Barnett of Danville; great grandchild, Koada Barnett of Sumerco; Brothers in Law, Robert Comer and Arbutis of Charleston, Monroe Jones of Sissonville, and Gary and Lois Moss of New Haven, Ct. and Sister in Law, Dottie Moss of Sissonville.

Funeral service will be at at noon on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Larry Nelson will be officiating. Burial with Military rites will take place at Independence Cemetery in Sandyville, WV.
