Dorothy Hoover Comer
Dorothy Hoover Comer, 59, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born February 10, 1952 to the late Herbert and Nettie Hoover. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Alice Hoover and Mildred Brown, and a brother, Roy Hoover Jr.
Dorothy was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and was employed by the State of West Virginia. She will be remembered for her love of laughter and as a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was a committed Christian and attended Legg Fork Community Church.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Alan, of Sissonville; sons Jason and wife Angie of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; Ben and wife, Sarah of Sissonville; six grandchildren, Holt, Brynna, Shayla, Alexis, Paris and Brooklyn. Additional survivors include a brother, Robert Hoover of Lizemores, sisters, Betty Hunter of Pinch, and Delcie Hoover of Clendenin, brothers, Harold Hoover of Belle and Bobby Hoover of Big Chimney; special family, Cindy Hoover and Johnnie Hunter, both of Pinch; Jim Hoover of Big Chimney and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville with the Rev. Terry Walker and the Rev. Roy Baker officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.on Sunday January 8, 2012 at the funeral home . Burial will follow in Burl Jones Cemetery in Sissonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387.
The family would like to express special thanks to the following nurses at 5-South, CAMC, Memorial Division: Teresa, Serinity and Diana, for their kindness during an especially difficult time there and also to the staff at Hubbard Hospice House.
