Doris M. Thaxton, 82 of Sissonville WV was called to heaven on August 31, 2021, joining her late
husband Noble R. Thaxton. They were wed in 1959 and persisted until Noble's death in 2016.
She worked retail all her life and was active in both the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the
Moose organizations. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall "Red" Myers and
Tressie Shaffer Myers and brothers Alvie, Eugene, and Roger. She is survived by her daughters
Kimberly (David) Jett and Patricia (Clarence) Shafer of Sissonville, West Virginia; grandson James
D. Shafer and companion Angelique Gustafson of Fairmont, West Virginia; sisters Ernie King (Bob
Young) of Pocatalico, West Virginia, and Susie (Bob) Unertel of Wisconsin; also surviving her are
several nieces and nephews, including a great niece and nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family
asks that donations be made to a local veteran's organization or food bank. Viewing will be
Monday, September 6, 2021 from 1:00 -2:00PM at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, with
graveside services following at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens.
