Dorena May "Dee" Crooks, a Christian, passed on Wednesday, February 24, at 4:42 p.m. following a lengthy illness. Her children were present to ease her passing. She was born on September 15, 1938 on the Ashcraft family farm in Doddridge County to Paul J. Ashcraft and Ruby C. (Lasure) Ashcraft. Dee graduated Roosevelt Wilson High School in Nutter Fort, married William H. D. "Jack" Crooks (died, 2007) and bore three children: Charles J. (1961); Kimberly M. (1963); and Raechelle D. (1970). In addition to her children, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Francesca Tan, her grandson, Duncan Tan Crooks, and her son-in-law, Bruce Miller. The family are especially grateful to the staff of Kanawha Hospice Care and the staff of the Cedar Ridge Center. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home 6837 Sissonville Drive in Sissonville, W.Va.
