Allen Donell "Dickie" Oxley, 57, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2008 at home with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 15, 1951 in Charleston. He was the son of Raymond and Emogene Oxley of Tupper''s Creek. In Addition to this father, he was preceded in death by his sister Cathy Renita Oxley of Sissonville.
Dickie worked as a bricklayer out of the Bricklayers Union Local Number 9. He was a Christian and member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, visiting his sister and brother-in-law Debbie, Rodney McMillion, and spending time with his granddaughters.
Dickie will be sadly missed by his wife of 37 years, Marylin at home; Mother, Emogene Oxley; Sons, Donell Everette Oxley and his wife Becky, and Nathan Allen Oxley; Sisters, Debbie McMillion and her husband Rodney, and Wyvette Oxley; Brothers, Terry Oxley and wife Carolyn all of Sissonville, and Keith Oxley and his wife Betty of Cross Lanes, and Dana Oxley of Florida; and granddaughters, Taylor Donell, and Lydia Lashaye Oxley of Sissonville.
Special thanks to John Lacy, co-workers of J&L Masonry, Chris Reed, Donald White, Ronnie Thaxton, and Timmy Good for their friendship. Also, the family would like to express their appreciation to Wayne Thaxton, Dickie''s Brother-in-law, friends Monk and Frank Harding, and the Hospice staff for their loving and caring assistance.
Funeral Service will be 2pm Thursday, October 16 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Rev. Walter Means officiating. Burial will follow in the Burdette-Oxley Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
