Delford D. Johns, 75, of Cross Lanes left this life on earth to a more beautiful, heavenly place on February 24, 2011 after a long illness.
Delford retired from the Putnam County School System with 27 years service. He was a school bus driver, and was also a teacher. Delford was a member of the Bancroft Church of Christ. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather who enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Edith Johns; and a brother, Darius Johns.
Left to cherish his memory are his faithful and loving companion of many years, Dottie Johns; sons, Michael S. Johns and his wife, Becke, of Winfield, and Stephen L. Johns and his wife, Angela D., of Hurricane; brother, Daniel Johns and his wife, Pat, of Tate, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Paschal, Andrew, Minde, Kaleb, and Dustin M. Johns; great-grandchildren, A.J. Luther, Mea, and Sophia Johns, and William Paschal; and other extended family.
The Funeral Service will be 2pm Sunday, February 27 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastor Danny Underwood officiating. Private burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
