Debby Cherry, 60, of Sissonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday October 19, 2014, at Hospice House West.
She was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High and Concord College. Debby is a retired Medical Technologist from CAMC. She was sharp of mind and wit until her last days, succumbing to a 30 year battle with cancer.
Debby was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Sissonville.
Preceding her in death, parents Manuel & Wilma Harrison Legg, sister Norema (Pete) Profitt, and nephew Scotty Profitt.
Left to cherish & honor her memory; her husband of 34 years Mike, children Emily, Justin & his fianc Whitney Howell, and granddaughter Kaori Grace who was most certainly the apple of Nana''s eye. Her sister Susie (Danny) Harper, brothers Leroy (Cora), Danny (Linda), and Sam (Christy). There are also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We are thankful for the efforts of Dr Justin Cohen and his staff at the DPL Cancer Center. We are in eternal gratitude to the angels of HospiceCare. The family strongly suggest that in lieu of flowers, a gift to HospiceCare in memory of Debby, will be a most fitting way to honor her and to further the organization that has been such a blessing to our family and so many others during difficult times. HospiceCare 1606 Kanawha Blvd W. Charleston, WV 25387-2535
The family will receive visitors on Thursday October 23 from 6-8pm, with a celebration of her life on Friday October 24 at 2pm, at the Calvary Nazarene Church, 1113 Lakewood Drive Sissonville, with Pastor Kevin Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
