Cordie Slater, 90, of Sissonville, WV, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023. Cordie retired from CAMC with 25 years of service. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Adaline Burdette. She is preceded in death by her husband, James "Red" Slater; brother, Helman Burdette; sisters, Myrtle Davis Edens, Fronie Wiseman, Juanita Breeden Reed, Ethel White, Mary Turner, and Donna Shamblin Watts. Cordie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and David Watson; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Kim Slater; grandchildren, Anissa McGowan, Brandon Watson, Presley Slater, Josie Slater, and her great-grandchildren, Matthew McGowan and Emma McGowan. Special thanks to Cedar Ridge Nursing Home and Kanawha Hospice for their care of Cordie, and to Cordie's good friends Vanessa Harper and Kathy Fannin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cordie's name to the Kanawha Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 8th at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
