Clarence A. Davis, 81, of Charleston passed away May 20, 2008 at home, with family by his side.
He was born in July, 1926 at Elkhurst, WV, the 7th of 12 children born to John Franklin and Maggie Bell Davis.
Clarence was a Christian, and his philosophy wherever he went was to leave people smiling. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In 1985, he retired from Union Carbide's Institute Plant with 37 years of service.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Bobbie Jean Davis; daughter, Shirley Edens and her husband Jim; son Mike Davis and his wife Vickey; son Kenny Davis and his wife Donna; and daughter Loretta Davis, all of Charleston; sister, Othel Burdette of Procious; brothers, John Davis and his wife Betty of Westminster, MD, Bert Davis and his wife Irene of Parkersburg, and Ralph Davis and his wife Linda of Clay; grandchildren, Nathan Davis and his wife Jessica, Aaron Davis and his wife Tabitha, James Edens, Janessa Davis, and Bethany Edens and her fiance Chris Gravning; great-grandchildren Owen and Laila Davis; step-grandchildren, David Sanger, Chris Sanger, Amy Shaw and her husband Bryan; step-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Roman Shaw.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with Pastor Lee Swor and Pastor Bill J. Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Knob Cemetery, Maysel, with Pastor Ralph Davis conducting the graveside service. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the WV Army National Guard Honor Guard, South Charleston.
There will be a gathering of family and friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
