Charles Derrick, 85, of Sissonville went to be with the Lord July 7, 2007 at home after a short illness.
Charles was a Navy Veteran having served during WWII, and attended Maranatha Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Charles loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed going to family and Naval reunions.
Preceded in death by: Loving wife of 53 years, Mary Hudnall; Sisters, Bethel Thaxton, and infant Martha Derrick; brothers, Wilbur and William Derrick; daughter-in-law, Sharon Derrick.
Survived by: Children and their spouses, James Derrick of Reedy, Virginia and James Gibson of Sissonville, Kenny and Susie Derrick of Mammoth, Donald and Mary Derrick of Pocatalico, and Sandy and Lando Agosti of Sissonville; Grandchildren, Melissa Moss of Sissonville, Marylou Toole of Kenna, Nichole Derrick of Charleston, Mollie Tincher of Mammoth, and Charles David Derrick of Charleston; 7 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Tuesday, July 10 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Rev. Bill Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at Derrick Cemetery, Pocatalico with Military Graveside rites. Friends may call 6-9pm Monday at the Funeral Home.
