Carrie Catherine (Campbell) Lambert, formerly of Charleston, passed away Sunday, January 11, in San Diego, CA.
She was the wife of the late Edward Lambert of Charleston, and daughter of the late James and Helen Newhouse Campbell of Sissonville.
She was the loving mother of J. Stephen Garton of San Diego, CA; step-children, Richard and wife, Julie Lambert of Franklin, TN, Lynne and husband, Troy Hudson of Huntington, WV, and David and wife, Laura Lambert of Charleston; eight grandchildren including Sean Eliot Garton and Rachelle Marie Garton of San Diego, CA; Sister, Ruth Ann (Campbell) Dillon of Westford, MA ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carrie was the first born of fourteen loving grandchildren of Carrie and John Newhouse. After completing a Music Education Degree at Morris Harvey College (UC) and a Master of Education at Marshall University, she had a 30 year career in education, first as a classroom vocal music teacher, then for the majority of her career as Supervisor of Vocal Music for Kanawha County Schools. Having grown up in Sissonville, Carrie was a member of Humphrey''s Memorial Methodist Church and was very active in music programs in the church and schools during that time. Most cherished by Carrie was time with her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visiting Hours, Saturday, January 17, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving at 1:30 p.m. at Humphrey''s Memorial Methodist Church, Sissonville with Reverend George Webb officiating. A Coffee-Tea Reception will also be held at the church from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.
Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
