Carolyn Sue Hughes Thacker Overton Hamacher, 94, of Sissonville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Carolyn was born on May 16, 1932, to the late John and Madlynne Hughes. She spent more than 40 years residing in Brandon, Florida, before recently returning home to Sissonville.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Thacker, Frank Overton, and Ralph Hamacher; and her brother, Thomas Hughes.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ronald Thacker of Wayne, WV; John Thacker of Sissonville, WV; and Elizabeth Erb of Masontown, WV. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Van Horn of Lithia, FL, and Jeanne Cochran of Texas; and her brother, Edward Hughes of Texas.

Carolyn leaves behind five grandchildren: Brian Thacker of Corpus Christi, TX; Pamela Kesling of Charleston, WV; Kathryn Dotson of Hurricane, WV; Sarah Sigmond of Sissonville, WV; and Valerie Curtis of Arthurdale, WV; along with nine great-grandchildren, Elijah Dotson, Katie Dotson, Claire Dotson, Abraham Kesling, Raylan Sigmond, Robert Curtis, Hartley Thacker, Robert Thacker, and Joe Thacker.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville WV
