Carl Edward Johnson, 89, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2009 after a short stay at The Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother and father, AlMedia and Loren S. Johnson, 5 brothers and a son Terry Glenn Johnson.
He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Orean Shamblin Johnson, son John Johnson of Clendenin, daughters: Brenda Jenkins of Charleston and Joyce Newhouse of Charleston.
Surviving sisters: Nellie Skeen of Campbell''s Creek, WV, Maxine Keifer of Clover, WV and Phyllis Griffith of Columbus Ohio along with 8 grandchildren, Tammy Wells and husband David, Nicole Truman and husband Rodney, Stephanie Price and husband Richard, Ashley Johnson, Norma Redman and husband Albert, Brian Newhouse, Terry Johnson, Nathan Johnson, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the compasionate and caring staff at the Hubbard Hospice House and Hospice for the care he received with his long battle with cancer.
Special thanks to Amber, Jennifer and Scott. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday at the Long and Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Vanoy officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Pocatalico.
