Carl Barnhart, 71, of Sissonville, passed away February 17, 2018, at CAMC after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Jones) Barnhart; daughter Kerri Barnhart of Raleigh, N.C.; mother Janice Barnhart of Sissonville; brothers Denny (Pat Fisher) of Charleston and Don (Helen) of Sissonville. He was preceded in death by his father, Glow Barnhart.
He was born at home on March 28, 1946, in Sissonville. A 1964 graduate of Sissonville High School, he worked his entire career in the oil and gas industry, retiring from Viking Energy in 2014. He was a trustee of Allens Fork Community Church, where he sang bass in the choir and a quartet. Carl was known for his gift of gab and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, tinkering, spending time with his daughter in Raleigh, and was a late-in-life reading fanatic.
The funeral service will be at
11 a.m.
Wednesday, February 21, at Allens Fork Community Church with the Rev. Jerry Bonnett officiating, assisted by the Rev. Greg Estep. Burial will follow at Sissonville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from
6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, February 20, at Allens Fork Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allens Fork Community Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
