Bobby Gene Painter, 82, of Sissonville, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2018, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born May 21, 1936, to Owen and Mary Ellen Painter of Sissonville, and was raised by his grandfather Luke Jones, also of Sissonville.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Painter; his brother Steve of Sissonville; and his sisters, Brenda Holmes of Charleston, and Roseanne Blaylock of Elkview. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers Clinton, James and Lawson, and his sisters Arnetta, Connie and Rita.

Bob was a loving and caring husband. He never met a stranger. He was a longtime member of Fisher Memorial Church in Kenna, and was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Bob worked for 10 years for Claude Henson and retired from The Kroger Company after 28 years. When Bob wasn't working, he could be found on his farm baling hay or enjoying his John Deere tractor. He and Phyllis loved to travel with friends, and some of Bob's favorite trips were to gospel music conventions in places like Nashville, Gatlinburg and Branson.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Fisher Memorial Church in Kenna. Internment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family members who supported Bob during the past several months, especially Berry and Norma Jackson; Mike and Chrissy Pauley and girls.
