Betty Jane Shaffer, 71, of Kenna passed away December 29, 2009 in CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Corbia Ray Shaffer; sons, Ricky Allen Shaffer and Stephen Shaffer; siblings, David Burgess, Ureal Burgess and Dewayne White; and a great grandchild, Kerrigan Shaffer.
Left to cherish her memory are longtime companion, Harold "Shorty" Shamblin of Kenna; sons, Gary Shaffer of Advent and Michael Shaffer of Charleston; siblings, Donald Burgess of Charleston, Lois Jean Casto of Cross Lanes and Shirley Rhodes of Ripley; grandchildren, Nicki Leigh Nolte of Charleston, S.C., Travis Ray Shaffer of Advent, Lacey Jane Moffatt of Sissonville, Luke Shaffer, Hannah Shaffer, and Ricky Shaffer Jr. all of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Bryson Shaffer and Braley Shaffer.
The Funeral Service will be 1pm Thursday, December 31 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastor Robert Legg officiating. Burial will follow in Mangus Cemetery, Middle Fork.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
