Bethel Bernice "Beck" Clendenin, 88, of Charleston was welcomed into heaven on May 29, 2013 from Hubbard Hospice House.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Okey Duff and Lula Duff Hunt; sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Comer and Janet Melton; grandson, Michael Keith Clendenin.
She was a wonderful wife to her husband, Jarrel A. Clendenin for 68 years and a special mother to her two sons, Dana Keith Clendenin of Sissonville and Steven Lakin Clendenin and his wife, Micki of Ripley. She was also the proud grandmother to her grandson, Jon Clendenin of Goldtown and granddaughters, JillAnn Balco of Morgantown, Sherry Lee Meadows of Ravenswood and Mary Anne Clendenin of Ripley; 5 great grandchildren and her special cat Tocat whom she cherished.
Bethel was an active member of Humphreys United Methodist Church in Sissonville for many years where she participated in the women''s club and enjoyed doing special project at the church.
She was a member of the Sissonville High School class of 1942 and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was an avid walker at the Sissonville High School track and active in the Sissonville Senior Citizens where she enjoyed socializing with her friends. She loved watching Jeopardy and her soap operas, bowling and going to the circus, a joy she passed on to her grandsons.
Special thanks to Nova Casto, her sister-in-law, who lovingly cared for her for the last few years together with her husband and son, Dana Keith Clendenin.
Service will be Noon, Saturday June 1 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor George Webb officiating. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
Friends may call from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made in Bethel''s memory to Hubbard Hospice House.
