Bertha Lucinda Shearer

Bertha L. Shearer, 82 of Charleston, WV , went home to be with the Lord on June 28th, 2019. She departed this life at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late Nelson and Amy Newhouse. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward B. Shearer, after 56 years of marriage, infant son baby Shearer, brothers Earl Newhouse of Cleveland, Ohio, Lewis Newhouse of Charleston WV, and sister Evelyn Heim of Muncy, PA. Bertha will be forever remembered, loved and cherished by her children Sandra Gibson (Garry) of Sissonville, WV, James Shearer (BJ McClure) of Hurricane, WV, Karen Shearer of South Charleston, WV, and Diana Wheeler (Larry) of Fayetteville, WV, sister Mary Lou King of Charleston , WV, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was a member of The North Hills Baptist Church of Charleston, WV, Pastor Michael R. Harper. Bertha loved attending church and singing in the choir. She cherished family gatherings and going on trips to the beach. She always looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren and all her family and friends. Services will be held at Long & Fisher funeral home on  Monday July, 1st, 2019 with Pastor Mike Harper officiating. Friends may call at noon until 1pm service time.
