Berniece (Summers) Buzzard, 80, of Sissonville, passed away into the arms of her savior on Monday, July 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family after a short illness.

Born May 22, 1935 in Kanawha county; she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Martha Summers. Berniece enjoyed clogging. She loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by the joy in her life, her grandson, little Ricky Buzzard, Jr.; daughter, Connie Buzzard; brother, Sinnette Summers; great grandson, Richard Shafer; son-n-law, Phillip Slate; a special long time friend, Birtie White; and her faithful dog, Hailey.

Berniece will be missed by the love of her life for 60 years, her loving husband, Mac D. Buzzard; children, Richard Buzzard, Sr. (his wife, Carolyn), Martha Slate, and Sandy Shawver (her husband, John); grandchildren, Jennifer Slate, Stephanie Buzzard, Amy Davis, and Jason Slate; great grandchildren, Miquela Buzzard, Kara Shepard, Isaac Shepard, Scotty Buzzard, Alaina Davis, Gracie Shafer, and Gabriel Davis; sister and best friend, Violet Carpenter; and brothers, Roy Summers and Dale Summers.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3pm with Pastor Jeff Mosteller officiating. Internment will be private at Buzzard Cemetery.

A special thank you to a faithful friend for helping care for Berniece and her family for the last two weeks of life, Nanette Waywright. Berniece''s nephew, Jerry Walls, for being there for her and her family when they needed him the most to pray.
