Frankie Beatrice "Bea" Smith Blackshire, 79, of Sissonville, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, at home with family by her side. Bea was the daughter of the late Roy and Cordia Reese Smith. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Gene A. Blackshire; son, Charles R. Blackshire; and brother, Oral Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Blackshire Anastasio, and son-in-law, Ronald, of Sissonville; son, Mark Blackshire of Ironton, Ohio; stepdaughter, Fonda Blackshire Meadows of Dunbar; three grandchildren, of whom Justin Anastasio his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Albany, are the only ones from Sissonville; and four great-grandchildren.
Bea graduated from Sissonville High School in 1951. She worked at C&P Telephone Company, where she stayed until she had her first child. She also worked as a school cook for Kanawha County Schools. Later, Bea worked at the Sissonville Post Office as a mail carrier for 28 years. She was a loving wife, homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved God, family, friends and just everyday life and all things around her. She was a member of Grapevine Chapel Church. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Buddy Mairs officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, at the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Cindy Shamblin for all her help over the past two years. Also, Pam would like to say thanks for all the everyday work, because life would have been much harder without the help of her husband, Ron, and son, Justin Anastasio, and his wife, Samantha. Thanks also needs to go to friends, Bill and Betty Marion, Vernon Devol, Stacy Smith, Larry Plumley and Larry and Kathy Jordan.
