Aretta "Sissy" Smith, 75, of Charleston, passed away on July 17, 2022 at Thomas Memorial Hospital. Born on August 8, 1946 in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Crank Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Devra Lynn Smith. Sissy was a faithful member of the North Charleston Apostolic Church. She was a true country girl and loved the outdoors and hated wearing shoes. Sissy was a kind and considerate person who loved giving hugs. She is loved dearly and will be terribly missed by her family. Sissy is survived by her children, Carl "Junior" Smith of Florida and Debra (Jodi) Taylor of Sissonville; siblings, Franklin (Devra) Smith of Florida, Robert (Isabelle) Smith of Charleston, and John (Connie) Smith of Louisiana; grandchildren, Jason and Harley of Sissonville; great-grandchildren, Amora and Oliver of Sissonville, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville, with Pastor Anthony Moss, officiating. Burial will follow at Sissonville Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends at 12:00 P.M., one hour prior to services.
