Anna Mae (Atkisson) Hissom, 85, of Sissonville, went to be with her Lord and savior to her heavenly home on January 8, 2026. She was born October 4, 1940, to the late Alfred Lee Atkisson and Mary Atkisson.

Anna worked for Kanawha County Schools as a teacher's aide with developmentally delayed students. She was a pastor's wife and served alongside her husband as home missionaries for 39 years.

In addition to her parents, Anna is preceded in death by her husband Byron Rolf Hissom and her brother Alfred Ray.

Anna is survived by her two sons Dr. Rolf Hissom Jr. (Judy) and John Paul Hissom (Patti),  sisters Ruby Fae Kessell and Brenda Kay Morris, seven grandchildren Nathaniel (Sara), Geoffrey, Andrew (Lori), Elizabeth (Matt), Josef, Matthew and Emily (Jacob), five great-grandchildren Lincoln, Brooklyn, Sawyer, Stetson, and Iris.

Her life can be summed up by this scripture verse: John 13:35 – Everyone will know you as my followers if you demonstrate your love to others. (The Voice) Anna Shared the love of God with everyone she met. In turn she was loved by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on January 12, 2026, at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene. A visitation will also be held on 10:00am-12:00pm before the service

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on January 13, 2026, at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
