Obituary

Alvin "Ray" Landers, age 87 of Sissonville, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Landers was born in Sissonville, WV on February 26, 1926 to the late Eldridge and Nona (Walls) Landers.



Respectfully, Mr. Landers has served our country in the United States Navy on board the USS WASP in the South Pacific during World War II. Later on in life he became skilled and educated in operating heavy equipment for PG & H Coal Company. Many locals will remember Mr. Landers as selling his delicious produce out by the road side years ago in Sissonville.



In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Johnny Landers; sister, Juanita West; and a great grandchild, Kaylee Dawn Matlock.



Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Mrs. Norma "Maxine" Landers, at home; son, Robert Landers and wife Lola; daughters, Dawn Gail Matlock and husband Steve, and Karen Beane and husband Chico; brothers, Bus Landers and wife Mary Ann, and Ricky Landers; sisters, Pansy Edens and husband Gary Edens, Sr., Ruth Thompson, Millie Holley, Joyce Hanson, Charlotte King, and Janie Griffin; grandchildren, Brian Matlock and wife Tasha, Chrissy Mitchell and husband Brandon, Sean Matlock, Josh Matlock, and Emily Landers; great grandchildren, Madison, Zarianna, Alyvia, Dalton, Daniel, Kayden, Hunter, Gaige, and Mason; and also survived by a host of other family and friends.



In keeping with Mr. Landers final wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be conducted. His urn will be laid to rest at Landers Cemetery



In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be mailed to The Landers Family, 349 Landers Lane Sissonville, West Virginia 25320.
