Alta Larch Layne, 93, of Charleston went to be with the Lord September 20, 2008 in Cedar Ridge Nursing Center.
She was born in Roane county, and was a member of the Elk River Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed friends stopping by for pie and coffee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Virgie Shouldis; Husbands, Omel Larch, and Kenneth Layne; Sons, Raymond Larch, and Omel Larch Jr.; Step-sons, John, and Raymond Layne; Siblings, William Haymond Shouldis, Ethleen Kelly, Hubert Gibson, and Ersel Fluharty.
Survived by: Daughter, Lois Larch Shamblin and her husband Donald of Kenna; Step-son, Paul Layne and his wife Daisy of St. Albans; Grand-daughters, Laura Patterson and her husband Kenneth of Ripley, and Susan Hunt and her husband Michael of Cross Lanes; Great-Grandchildren, Jordan, and Alyssa Hunt; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff of Cedar Ridge Nursing Center.
Funeral Service will be 1pm Tuesday, September 23 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Rev. Randy Ledsome officiating. Burial will follow in Larch Cemetery, Walton. A gathering of friends and family will be 6-8pm Monday at the Funeral Home.
