Alma Kathleen Balding went home to be with Jesus on May 7, 2007. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 30:5 "For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favor is life; weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning."
Alma was born 1924 in Oak Vale, WV to the late James Earl and Cora Bailey. She was also preceded in death by: Sisters, Mary Moore and husband Bernard, Ruby Thacker and Husband Inky; Brothers-in-law, Bud Balding and wife Martha, Charles Henry Balding and wife Forrest Ann; Sisters-in-law, Joyce Wood and Evelyn Bailey.
Alma was devoted to her family and church. She was known as a soul winner, a prayer warrior, and was deeply loved by her church family.
Left to carry on her love is her husband of 61 years, Dewey Leroy Balding; Son, Larry Leroy Balding and wife Maureen; Daughters, Vickie Marie Balding and Mary Lynn Thompson an Husband Matthew; Grandsons, Jared Lee Balding and wife Melodie, and Benjamin Leroy Balding and Wife Hillary; Granddaughter, Lesley Kathleen Thompson; and Brother-in-law, Jim Wood.
II Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing."
Alma loved Dewey more than life, she gave herself completely to her children, and showed them how to live. Thank you, Mom.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Thursday May 10 at King''s River Worship Center, 777 Mallory Lane, St. Albans with Rev. Ron Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville. Friends may call 6-9pm Wednesday at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.
